This is an excerpt from Dancer Wellness With Web Resource by Mary Virginia Wilmerding & Donna Krasnow.Muscular strength is the ability to exert maximal force in one single contraction, such as lifting a weight that you could lift only once before needing a short break. Muscular power refers to a great force production over a short period of time, such as in fast leg kicks and explosive jumping. Muscular endurance is when less force is sustained over a longer period of time such as in gallops, skips, pliés, and swings. Dancers often confuse endurance with strength, so it is sometimes useful to think of endurance as continuous and strength as maximal. Show
This dancer displays muscular strength as well as flexibility in this difficult balance.
Learn more about Dancer Wellness. Is the ability of a muscle group to exert maximum force against a resistance one time through a full range of motion?MUSCULAR STRENGTH
The ability of a muscle or muscle group to exert a maximum force against a resistance ONE TIME through the full range of motion.
What is the ability of a muscle to exert a single maximum force?Muscular Strength: the ability of the muscles to exert a force. The maximum amount of force that a muscle can generate in a single effort.
Is the ability of the muscles to exert a force one time?- Muscular Strength is the ability of a muscle to exert force one time.
What is the ability to exert a maximal force in as short time as possible?Power=the ability to exert a maximal force in as short a time as possible, as in accelerating, jumping and throwing implements. While strength is the maximal force you can apply against a load, power is proportional to the speed at which you can apply this maximal force.
