What are the steps in prokaryotic translation?

Translation is a highly dynamic process that entails four major phases: initiation, elongation, termination, and ribosome recycling. During each phase, ribosomes form transient complexes with auxiliary translation factors that facilitate protein synthesis.

What happens during elongation of translation in prokaryotes?

1: Elongation in prokaryotes: During elongation, the prokaryotic RNA polymerase tracks along the DNA template, synthesizes mRNA in the 5′ to 3′ direction, and unwinds and rewinds the DNA as it is read.

What happens during the elongation stage?

During the elongation stage, the ribosome continues to translate each codon in turn. Each corresponding amino acid is added to the growing chain and linked via a bond called a peptide bond. Elongation continues until all of the codons are read.

What is the elongation process?

Basically, elongation is the stage when the RNA strand gets longer, thanks to the addition of new nucleotides. During elongation, RNA polymerase "walks" along one strand of DNA, known as the template strand, in the 3' to 5' direction.
